About the Opportunity A well-established automotive dealership in Medicine Hat is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Pre-Owned Automotive Sales Manager to lead its used vehicle department while also supporting the new vehicle sales operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, managing inventory, coaching and developing sales staff, maximizing profitability, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience across both pre-owned and new vehicle sales departments.
Lead and manage all aspects of the pre-owned vehicle sales department.
Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate sales consultants to achieve individual and team goals.
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and key performance indicators.
Manage used vehicle inventory levels to ensure a healthy stock mix and inventory turn.
Appraise trade-ins and source quality inventory through auctions, wholesalers, and direct purchases.
Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability.
Review and approve deals to ensure strong front-end and overall gross profit.
Work closely with the Finance Department to maximize customer satisfaction and product penetration.
Monitor CRM activity, lead management, appointment ratios, and closing percentages.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and positive online reviews.
Analyze sales reports and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
New Vehicle Sales Responsibilities
Assist in the daily management of the new vehicle sales department.
Support new vehicle sales consultants with deal structuring, negotiations, and customer interactions.
Help monitor lead management, appointments, and sales conversion ratios.
Assist in achieving new vehicle sales objectives and profitability targets.
Support inventory management and vehicle merchandising efforts.
Ensure dealership sales processes and customer experience standards are consistently followed.
Work closely with the General Sales Manager and Finance Department to maximize sales opportunities and customer retention.
Leadership Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior management to achieve dealership objectives and profitability targets.
Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and regulatory requirements.
Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
Lead by example and actively participate in sales activities when required.
Qualifications
Previous experience as an Automotive Sales Manager, Used Vehicle Manager, General Sales Manager, or Senior Sales Leader.
Strong understanding of both new and used vehicle sales operations.
Proven track record of achieving sales and profitability targets.
Experience with vehicle appraisals, inventory acquisition, and inventory management.
Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service abilities.
Experience with Dealer Management Systems (DMS), CRM platforms, and digital retailing tools.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Experience
Experience purchasing vehicles from auctions and private sellers.
Knowledge of market-based vehicle pricing strategies.
Familiarity with inventory management, aging analysis, and stock turn metrics.
Experience managing both new and pre-owned vehicle departments.
Experience developing and mentoring automotive sales professionals.
Compensation & Benefits
Expected earnings of $80,000 to $120,000 per year.
Compensation package is negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and proven performance.
